This is one of my earliest watercolor paintings. It is based on my mom's favorite photo of her grandfather, feeding the chickens on his farm. When I was working on the drawing, I noticed that the white chickens were younger. While the older red hens were eating the scattered seeds, the younger ones were approaching him and his buckey of seed. There is an especially cute one just standing and staring up at him, silently waiting for her seeds.
